FRSC Arrests 1,691 in Nationwide Road Safety Crackdown

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) executed a nationwide operation, codenamed "Operation Guduma," resulting in 1,691 arrests across 12 states. This special intervention targeted dangerous practices such as overloading, mixed loading, and the use of fraudulent diplomatic number plates.

The operation yielded 683 arrests for overloading and mixed loading, while 1,003 arrests were related to number plate offenses. Five suspects were apprehended for using fake diplomatic number plates.

The FRSC, under the leadership of Corps Marshal Shehu Mohammed and Deputy Corps Commander Osondu Ohaeri, emphasized that these violations pose direct threats to public safety and national security. The operation revealed a widespread culture of impunity among road users exploiting illegal vehicles and disregarding safety regulations.

The FRSC plans to continue its zero-tolerance approach towards violations and will deploy intelligence-led enforcement strategies to dismantle these dangerous practices, aiming to prevent traffic crashes and protect lives.
