FRSC Launches Operation Guduma Against Fake Diplomatic Plates

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has launched a strategic intervention named "Operation Guduma" to address the increasing use of fake diplomatic number plates in Nigeria, which has become a significant security concern. FRSC Corps Marshal Shehu Mohammed disclosed this initiative during the inauguration in Awka.

The operation aims to ensure that individuals using fake diplomatic plates are identified and sanctioned. The FRSC has discovered that some people have been using these counterfeit plates to ply the roads, contributing to insecurity in the country.

The operation will take place from May 18 to May 22, 2023, in Anambra and Enugu states. Additionally, a sensitization campaign will be conducted at motor parks to educate motorists about the dangers associated with overloading and the use of fake number plates.

The FRSC advises state governments to withdraw any number plates issued to officials that have expired to facilitate easier identification of illegal plates.
