FRSC Recovers Stolen Vehicle in Anambra After Three Years

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) successfully recovered a stolen Toyota Corolla in Nnewi, Anambra, on April 4, three years after it was taken during a kidnapping incident on January 23, 2023. The recovery was part of an initiative to combat vehicle-related crime through the National Vehicle Identification (NVI) scheme.

Osondu Ohaeri, the FRSC Public Education Officer, explained that the recovery process began when a routine check revealed inconsistencies in the vehicle's chassis number. Further verification linked the vehicle to its rightful owner, Onyechi Dickson Ez, who confirmed it was forcefully taken during the kidnapping.

The operation involved collaboration with the Nigeria Police Force and the State Criminal Investigation Bureau, leading to the arrest of individuals involved in the fraudulent documentation. The vehicle had undergone modifications to conceal its identity, including a color change and unassigned number plates.

The FRSC emphasized the importance of the NVI platform in enhancing vehicle traceability and combating vehicle theft.
