FRSC Intensifies Crackdown on Illegal Roadside Pickups

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has launched a crackdown on illegal roadside pickups by commercial drivers to enhance pedestrian safety. Olusegun Ogungbemid, a public education officer at the FRSC, disclosed in an interview that the agency is conducting routine patrols across Nigeria to apprehend offenders who create obstructions on the roads.

These traffic offenses occur daily, leading to accidents and endangering lives. While the FRSC is actively monitoring and enforcing traffic regulations, Ogungbemid noted that the agency cannot arrest offenders at all times due to the widespread nature of violations.

The FRSC emphasizes the importance of public education to discourage unsafe practices among drivers and passengers. The agency's commitment to improving road safety includes continuous patrols and public sensitization efforts aimed at ensuring orderly traffic movement and protecting pedestrians.
