FRSC Launches Eid-El-Fitri Patrol for Safer Highways

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), led by Corp Marshal Shehu Mohammed, has ordered a nationwide deployment of personnel for the Eid-El-Fitri special patrol scheduled to run from March 17 to 22, 2026. This initiative is part of the FRSC's intensified efforts to ensure safer highways during the festive period, which typically sees heavy vehicular movement across Nigeria.

The patrol aims to reduce road traffic crashes and fatal injuries while ensuring a free flow of traffic. The FRSC will maintain 24-hour patrols along critical corridors and will support emergency response operations with ambulances and tow trucks.

The operation will focus on real-time traffic monitoring and immediate clearance of obstructions. Additionally, the FRSC plans to enforce traffic regulations by clamping down on major violations, including speeding, dangerous driving, and the use of mobile phones while driving.

The operation will also involve collaboration with other agencies, including the Nigeria Police Force and the Federal Fire Service, to ensure coordinated emergency responses and highway security.
