Fubara Appoints New SSG and Chief of Staff in River State

On February 26, 2026, Governor Siminalayi Fubara of River State appointed Dr. Dagogo S.

Wokoma as the new Secretary to the State Government and Barrister Sunni Ewul as the new Chief of Staff. The appointments were announced in a statement by the Chief Press Secretary, Onwuka Nzeshi, and are effective immediately.

The new appointees will be sworn in at 2:00 PM at the Government House in Port Harcourt. Wokoma replaces Benibo Anabraba, while Ewul takes over from Edison Ehi.

The changes come amid political tensions, with sources indicating that President Bola Tinubu's intervention helped to resolve a political crisis that had threatened Fubara's position, including discussions to halt impeachment proceedings against him initiated by the River State House of Assembly. This follows Fubara's recent cabinet reshuffle, where he dissolved eight commissions and relieved special advisers of their duties.
