Fubara Appoints New Chief of Staff and SSG in River State

The cabinet reshuffle came after Fubara's decision on February 12, 2026, to dissolve his cabinet, which included the removal of Chief of Staff Edison Ehi and Secretary to the State Government Benibo Anabraba.

This political change was prompted by tensions within the state legislature, which had initiated impeachment proceedings against Fubara and his deputy, Professor Ngozi Odu, citing allegations of gross misconduct. However, following presidential intervention, the assembly withdrew the impeachment proceedings, easing tensions in the oil-producing state.
