Fubara and Peterside Mourn Senator Barinada Mpigi

Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State and Dr. Dakuku Peterside, former Director General of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), expressed their condolences following the death of Senator Barinada Mpigi.

In a statement signed by Fubara's Chief Press Secretary, Onwuka Nzeshi, the governor described Mpigi as a consummate politician and a brother who was a guiding light for Rivers State. Mpigi, who was 64 years old at the time of his death, served as the chairman of the Senate Committee on Work and was appointed chairman of the Joint Senate Committee to investigate crude oil theft in the Niger Delta region during the 9th Assembly.

Dr. Peterside highlighted Mpigi's dedication to public service and his strong connection with his constituents, emphasizing the profound loss felt by the Rivers South-East Senatorial District and the nation as a whole.

Both leaders prayed for strength for Mpigi's family and for his soul to rest in peace.
