Fubara Absent from APC Screening Ahead of Primaries

Rivers State Governor Fubara was notably absent from the APC screening exercise for governors, which commenced on May 8 and is expected to conclude on May 10. The screening is part of the preparations for the party's primaries, with a total of 14 governors seeking re-election.

The primaries are scheduled to begin with the House of Representatives on May 15, followed by the Senate on May 18, state house assemblies on May 20, governorship on May 21, and presidential primaries on May 23. The screening committee, chaired by Stanlei Osifo, is tasked with addressing disputes arising from the primaries.

Fubara's absence is reportedly due to a long-standing political conflict with his predecessor, Nyesom Wike, who has expressed interest in the APC nomination and has been involved in proxy political maneuvers against Fubara. Other governors undergoing screening include Abba Yusuf from Kano State, Inuwa Yahaya from Gombe State, and several others from different states.
