Wike Denies APC Membership Amid Screening Controversy

Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, publicly dismissed claims linking him to the All Progressives Congress (APC) amidst controversies surrounding the screening of gubernatorial aspirants in Rivers State. During an inspection of ongoing infrastructure projects in Abuja, Wike stated that he is not a member of the APC and has no knowledge of the internal affairs related to the party's screening exercise.

He emphasized that the matter does not concern him directly and reiterated that he possesses no special powers to know the outcomes of the screening process. Wike's comments came after reports indicated that Siminalayi Fubara, the current governor of Rivers State, was absent from the final day of the APC screening committee, which was chaired by Nentaw Yilwatda.

Fubara is seeking the party's ticket for a second term as governor and a senatorial seat. Yilwatda later clarified that Fubara's absence was due to official responsibilities.
