Fubara Submits Commissioner-Nominee List to Rivers Assembly

Governor Fubara of Rivers State reportedly submitted a list of commissioner nominees to the Rivers State House of Assembly on a Friday, aiming to stabilize the state government amid a political crisis. This move follows the dissolution of the state executive council and the relief of a special adviser, which is seen as part of a recent truce brokered by President Bola Tinubu between Fubara and former governor Nyesom Wike.

The list was forwarded to the Assembly, which is led by Speaker Martin Amaewhul, whose leadership has been recognized by the Supreme Court. The screening and confirmation process for the nominees is expected to commence soon.

This action is part of Fubara's broader reconciliation efforts, which may also include appointing a new chief of staff. Additionally, there are plans for a newly constructed assembly complex to temporarily house lawmakers.

As of the report, there has been no formal acknowledgment of the nominee list by the Rivers State House of Assembly or Fubara's chief press secretary, Onwuka Nzeshi, although the list is anticipated to be made public once the screening process begins.
