Fubara Aims to Transform Rivers into Health Tourism Hub

On Tuesday, April 7, 2023, Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State reaffirmed his administration's commitment to improving the healthcare sector in the state during a goodwill message marking World Health Day. He pledged to prioritize initiatives that guarantee citizens access to quality healthcare. Fubara urged the people of Rivers State to protect themselves from diseases by adopting healthy lifestyles and ensuring proper hygiene. His administration has made significant progress, including the recruitment of 2,000 health workers, revamping several health facilities, and establishing a health insurance scheme aimed at transforming Rivers State into a health tourism hub. The governor's media aide, Onwuka Nzeshi, highlighted that the administration has revived and expanded previously abandoned health facilities, remodeled 153 primary healthcare centers, and approved the promotion of 400 staff at the Rivers State University Teaching Hospital, with plans to recruit an additional 500 personnel.
