Ogun Governor Dapo Abiodun Offers Relief to Workers

Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun has introduced measures to support public servants in response to the recent fuel price hike. Effective from April 2026, eligible workers will receive a weekly day off and a monthly transport allowance of ₦10,000 for three months.

The announcement was made by the state head of service, Kehinde Onasanya, who explained that the initiative aims to alleviate the burden of increased transportation costs on workers. However, certain categories of workers, including medical personnel, judiciary staff, teachers, non-teaching staff, security personnel, and heads of departments whose duties require physical presence, will be exempt from the weekly day off but will still receive the transport allowance.

Onasanya emphasized the importance of this intervention in promoting workforce motivation and maintaining efficient public service delivery amid economic challenges, urging workers to reciprocate the gesture with renewed commitment and discipline.
