Ogun State Grants Weekly Day Off and Transport Allowance

Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun has approved a new policy granting civil servants a weekly day off and a monthly transport allowance of N10,000. This initiative is set to commence in April 2026 and aims to cushion the effects of rising fuel prices and increased transportation costs on the workforce.

The announcement was made by Kehind Onasanya, the head of service, who emphasized that this measure is intended to provide relief to workers and improve productivity. However, essential duty workers, including medical personnel, judicial staff, teachers, and security personnel, will be exempt from the weekly day off to ensure that service delivery is not disrupted.

The specific days off for eligible workers will be determined by the accounts office of various ministries, departments, and agencies. Onasanya commended Governor Abiodun for this timely intervention and urged workers to reciprocate by improving their dedication and efficiency.
