Ogun State Offers Workers Day Off, ₦10,000 Transport Allowance

The Ogun State Government has announced a new initiative aimed at supporting public servants in response to the recent fuel price hikes. Effective from April 2026, workers will receive a weekly day off and a monthly transport allowance of ₦10,000.

This measure, described by the Head of Service, Kehind Onasanya, is part of a three-month intervention designed to cushion the impact of increased transport costs. Onasanya emphasized that the initiative is intended to improve overall worker welfare and reflects the administration's commitment to supporting its workforce during challenging economic times.

While all eligible workers will benefit from the monthly transport allowance, certain categories of workers will be exempt from the weekly day off due to the critical nature of their duties. The Ogun State Government aims to maintain operational efficiency despite economic pressures while encouraging public servants to demonstrate increased dedication and professionalism in their service delivery.
