NUPENG Orders Tanker Drivers to Boycott Dangote Depots, Fuel Scarcity Looms

The Nigerian Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG) has instructed Petroleum Tanker Drivers to halt loading at Dangote depots from September 8. This directive follows a dispute over Dangote Refinery's alleged refusal to allow drivers of compressed natural gas (CNG) trucks to join the union.

NUPENG accused Dangote of jeopardizing its members' livelihoods and ignoring appeals to reverse its stance. The union highlighted concerns of worker exploitation and urged regulatory intervention.

The situation could lead to a fuel scarcity as tanker drivers comply with the order, impacting the distribution of petroleum products in Nigeria.
