Tinubu to Publish Fuel Subsidy Savings Utilization Details

President Bola Tinubu stated that the Federal Government would soon release information regarding the utilization of resources saved from the removal of the fuel subsidy. This announcement was made during a meeting with the leadership of the Nigerian Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG) on Thursday.

Tinubu emphasized that the subsidy removal allowed the government to redirect funds to other economic areas and defended the policy's impact on ordinary Nigerians. He recalled discussions with NUPENG prior to his election, where the union expressed concerns about potential industrial action over the subsidy policy.

Tinubu asserted that regular salary payments to local government employees and federal workers positively affect the economy. He cited ongoing long-term infrastructure projects, including major road networks like the Lagos-Ibadan and Abuja-Kaduna roads, as examples of how the government is investing in the economy.

Additionally, he urged NUPENG to ensure that the benefits of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) are more widely distributed to commuters.
