Nigeria Names 45 Athletes for 2026 CAA Championships

The Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN) has unveiled a 45-member squad for the upcoming 2026 CAA Athletics Championships scheduled to take place in Accra, Ghana. The contingent comprises 25 female and 20 male athletes, with the aim of competing against the continent's best and preparing for the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland.

Leading the women's roster is world record holder Tobi Amusan, who is expected to compete in the women's 100m hurdles. Other prominent female athletes include Rosemari Chukwuma, who is among the fastest female sprinters this season, and Patience Okon, an experienced quarter-miler.

The men's category features sprint sensation Favour Ash and shot put star Chukwuebuka Enekwechi. The team will also include athletes competing in various events such as javelin, long jump, and relays, showcasing Nigeria's emerging talent and established stars.
