Cameroon Defeats Nigeria, Qualifies for 2027 Women’s World Cup

On Sunday, Cameroon secured their qualification for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup by defeating Nigeria’s Super Falcons 1-0 in the quarter-finals of the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON). This victory not only advanced Cameroon to the semi-finals of the WAFCON but also guaranteed their spot in the global tournament scheduled to take place in Brazil.

The 2026 WAFCON serves as Africa’s qualifying competition for the 2027 Women’s World Cup, with the four semi-finalists earning automatic qualification. Alongside Cameroon, Algeria and Morocco had already secured their places by reaching the semi-finals.

The upcoming 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup will feature 32 teams, with additional teams expected to qualify as continental competitions conclude.
