WAFCON 2026: 16 Teams Compete for Glory in Morocco

The Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) 2026 is taking place in Morocco, featuring 16 teams competing for continental glory and qualification for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Brazil. The Super Falcons of Nigeria, the defending champions and record 10-time winners, are seen as the team to beat due to their deep squad and winning mentality.

Morocco, hosting for the third consecutive time, is led by African Women’s Footballer of the Year Ghizlane Chebbak and is expected to be a strong contender. Other notable teams include Banyana Banyana from South Africa, coached by Desiree Ellis, and Ghana's Black Queens under Kim Bjorkegren.
