INEC Clears 10 Parties for Kano Assembly By-Election on Feb 21

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has confirmed that 10 political parties will participate in the Kano State House of Assembly by-election slated for February 21. The Resident Electoral Commissioner for Kano State, Ambassador Abdu Zango, disclosed this information after a stakeholders' engagement meeting.

The registered political parties cleared to contest in the election include APC, ADP, AAC, PRP, ZLP, APGA, AA, LP, and NNPP. Zango emphasized that all nominations were submitted at the state level and uploaded to INEC's official online portal.

INEC has deployed monitors to oversee the parties' primary elections to ensure compliance with guidelines and address any internal crises. The by-election will cover two state constituencies in Kano Municipal and Ungogo Local Government Area, involving an estimated 535,000 registered voters across 1,000 polling units.
