Mbappé Tops World Cup Scorers List with 22 Goals

Kylian Mbappé, the French captain and Real Madrid forward, has achieved a historic milestone by becoming the all-time leading goalscorer in FIFA World Cup history with 22 goals. This record was established following the conclusion of the 2026 World Cup held in the United States.

Mbappé surpassed Argentina's Lionel Messi, who retired from the tournament with 21 goals scored across a record 34 matches over six editions. The previous record was held by German striker Miroslav Klose, who scored 16 goals in 24 matches.

Other notable scorers include Brazil's Ronaldo with 15 goals in 19 matches, and Germany's Gerd Müller with 14 goals in just 13 matches. England's Harry Kane also reached 14 goals but in 18 matches.

Just Fontaine remains a remarkable name on the list with 13 goals in six matches during the 1958 World Cup. Pelé scored 12 goals in 14 matches, while Jürgen Klinsmann and Sandor Kocsis each scored 11 goals in 17 and 5 matches, respectively.

Cristiano Ronaldo concluded his World Cup career with 11 goals in 27 appearances.
