Court Orders Final Forfeiture of 48 Malami-Linked Properties

On Wednesday, a Federal High Court in Abuja, presided over by Justice Joyce Abdulmalik, ordered the final forfeiture of 48 properties linked to former Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, SAN. The court's judgment was based on findings by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) that established reasonable suspicion regarding the unlawful acquisition of these assets.

The properties, valued at N213.2 billion, include hotels, residential buildings, commercial plazas, schools, factories, filling stations, warehouses, and large parcels of land across the Federal Capital Territory, Kebbi, Kano, and Kaduna states. The court discharged an interim forfeiture order concerning the remaining assets.

The EFCC had initially received an interim forfeiture order from Justice Emeka Nwite in January 2026. Although the final forfeiture order covers 48 properties, nine properties were excluded, and the court could not immediately determine the status of these excluded properties.
