Former Nigerian Attorney General and Son Charged with Terrorism Financing and Illegal Firearms Possession

Abubakar Malami, the former Attorney General of Nigeria, and his son Abdulaziz Malami have been charged with alleged involvement in terrorism financing and illegal possession of firearms. The charges include abetting terrorism financing, possessing firearms without a license, and engaging in conduct to commit acts of terror.

The arraignment took place at the Federal High Court in Abuja, where both defendants pleaded not guilty. The prosecution requested that the defendants be remanded in custody pending trial, but the defense counsel made a bail application, which was declined by the presiding judge.

The case has been adjourned until February 20, 2026, for further proceedings, including the hearing of the bail application and the commencement of the trial.
