UK Youth Mobility Visa: Eligibility Criteria Announced

The United Kingdom government has published the eligibility criteria for its Youth Mobility Scheme visa, which is currently open to nationals from four countries. Citizens aged 18 to 35 from these countries can apply, with specific age requirements: applicants must be 18 years or older when their visa becomes active and 35 years or younger at the time of application.

Notably, applicants may apply before turning 18, provided the visa activation date is on or after their 18th birthday. However, the published list does not include any African countries, meaning citizens from Ghana, Kenya, South Africa, and other African nations cannot apply through this route and must seek alternative UK visa options for temporary residence and work.

The Youth Mobility Scheme is a points-based route that allows young individuals from eligible countries to live, work, and study in the UK for up to two years without requiring a job offer prior to arrival.
