UK Visa and Citizenship Fees to Rise for Nigerians in 2026

The UK government will implement a fee increase for various visa and citizenship applications starting April 8, 2026, as reported by the UK Home Office. This adjustment will impact Nigerians significantly, as Nigeria remains one of the largest sources of visa applications to the UK, with hundreds of thousands of Nigerians applying annually for visit, student, and work visas.

The new fee schedule shows that the visit visa will rise from £127 to £135, while the student visa fee will increase from £524 to £558. For those seeking permanent residency, the fee will rise from £3,029 to £3,226.

The cost for naturalization as a British citizen will increase from £1,605 to £1,709. Other categories, such as the registration of a child as a British citizen, will see a reduction from £1,214 to £1,000.
