Nigerian Court Sentences Nnamdi Kanu to Life Imprisonment for Terrorism Charges

The Federal High Court in Abuja sentenced Nnamdi Kanu, the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), to life imprisonment after being convicted of seven terrorism-related charges. Justice James Omotosho ruled that the prosecution had presented compelling evidence beyond a reasonable doubt, dismissing Kanu's claims of unfair trial.

Kanu was found guilty of failing to challenge the prosecution's evidence and ignoring opportunities to rebut allegations. The court also addressed Kanu's allegations of being illegally brought back to Nigeria from Kenya, ruling that the trial was not nullified.

Kanu received varying prison terms for different counts, with the sentences to run concurrently.
