FUNAAB Launches N1M Prize for Best Farm Student

The Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), has announced the establishment of a N1 million annual prize to reward the best student in farm practice, honoring the late Pa Samuel Fakoya, father of Prof. Emmanuel Fakoya.

This announcement was made during the university's 110th inaugural lecture titled "Measuring Scale: The Bedrock of Robust Agricultural Extension Research Analysis," delivered by Prof. Oluwafemi Balogun.

The prize will be awarded for the next ten years, commencing at the 34th convocation of the university, with the aim of promoting excellence and motivating outstanding performance among students enrolled in FUNAAB's farm practice year program. Prof.

Emmanuel Fakoya emphasized the need for a paradigm shift in agricultural policy formulation in Nigeria, advocating for empirical evidence-based interventions. He also highlighted the importance of a multidisciplinary approach in agricultural research and the establishment of specialized centers for measuring scale studies to drive innovation and standardization in research methodologies.
