Funso Doherty Leaves ADC, Joins Nigeria Democratic Congress

Funso Doherty, the former governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Lagos State, has officially defected to the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC). He announced his decision on Thursday, following recent events that created divisions within the ADC among major party members.

Initially, the ADC aimed to unite opposition groups for future elections; however, the situation within the party changed, making this goal unachievable under the current arrangements. After consultations with close associates, Doherty decided to join the NDC, believing that it offers a stronger opportunity to build an inclusive government and foster political reform in Nigeria.

He expressed hope that the opposition could grow into a capable force that provides Nigerians with viable options. Doherty called for support from Nigerians who share similar political views to join the NDC, describing the party as a movement aimed at creating a better future for citizens across the country.
