FUTI Enhances Engineering Focus Under Dr. Akinde's Leadership

The Federal University of Technology, Ilaro (FUTI), led by Acting Vice-Chancellor Dr. Mukail Aremu Akinde, is committed to strengthening its identity as a technology-driven institution. Akinde, who has been in office since September 27, 2022, emphasized the importance of engineering, hands-on technical skills, and applied research in addressing real-world challenges.

The administration aims to create an environment where research translates into practical solutions for industry and society. Under Akinde's leadership, FUTI has seen significant growth, increasing its student population from fewer than 10,000 to over 27,000 and expanding its academic programs from 34 to over 100.

The institution has also added two new schools, bringing the total to eight, and introduced specialized programs aligned with Nigeria's industrial needs, such as Welding and Fabrication and Cement Technology, to support industries like Dangote Cement and the Dangote refinery.
