Federal Government Expands Tech Training to 15 Universities
The Federal Government is expanding its training programs in artificial intelligence (AI), cybersecurity, robotics, and other emerging technologies to 15 additional tertiary institutions across Nigeria. This initiative was announced during the commissioning of the TETFund/Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI) ICT Experience Centre at Kwara State University (KWASU), Malete.
Kwapchi Hamman, Special Assistant to the President on Media and ICT, stated that construction of the facilities in the new institutions is already underway. The centres will be established in states including Adamawa, Bayelsa, Borno, Delta, Edo, Enugu, Imo, Katsina, Nasarawa, Niger, Ondo, Osun, Rivers, Yobe, and Zamfara.
The expansion follows a pilot program that included six ICT Experience Centres in Nigeria's six geopolitical zones. First Lady Oluremi Tinubu, represented by Nana Shettima, emphasized the importance of these centres in providing learning and innovation opportunities for young Nigerians.
The centres will feature ICT laboratories and other facilities aimed at enhancing digital learning.
