Gabriel Jesus Completes €10M Transfer to Barcelona

Gabriel Jesus, a 29-year-old striker, has arrived in Barcelona on August 31, 2023, to complete his expected transfer to LaLiga champions Barcelona for an initial fee of €10 million. He is anticipated to undergo a medical examination before signing a two-year contract with the club.

Arsenal will receive €10 million for Jesus, who had one year remaining on his contract at the Emirates Stadium, with a potential additional €4 million in performance-related add-ons. Barcelona's need for a recognized striker arose after the departures of Robert Lewandowski and Ferran Torres, leaving them without a senior striker.

Coach Hansi Flick had considered various players for the central role but preferred to secure a recognized No.9. Jesus's arrival does not eliminate Barcelona's interest in Julián Álvarez, although they cannot sign him this summer.

Jesus joined Arsenal from Manchester City in 2022 and scored 11 goals in 33 appearances during his first season but has struggled with injuries and fallen out of favor under Mikel Arteta.
