Saif al-Islam Gaddafi, Son of Late Libyan Leader, Reportedly Assassinated in Libya

Saif al-Islam Gaddafi, the son of former Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi, was allegedly assassinated by a group of four unidentified men in Zintan, Libya. The news was reported by Abdullah Othman Abdurrahim to Al Ahrar TV channel.

Marcel Ceccaldi, a French lawyer, claimed that Saif al-Islam was killed by a commando group at his home in western Libya. Saif al-Islam, once considered a political heir to his father, was captured during the 2011 uprising and had faced legal battles.

In 2021, he announced his intention to run for president, but the election was indefinitely postponed. Hamid Kadhafi, a cousin, confirmed the news on Al Ahrar TV.

The Libyan authorities are yet to release an official statement regarding the assassination.
