Gadzama Challenges LPDC Decision in Federal High Court

Chief J-K. Gadzama, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, has filed proceedings at the Federal High Court to challenge the decision and directions of the Legal Practitioners Disciplinary Committee (LPDC).

The court has granted him leave to pursue a judicial review. Gadzama's application questions the legality of the LPDC's disciplinary process, focusing on constitutional safeguards and the lack of an effective appellate mechanism for challenging disciplinary decisions.

He argues that the current legal framework allows for serious professional consequences without adequate avenues for appeal. The application references recent judicial decisions, including a Supreme Court judgment in the case of Ben Mene-Ejegi, and raises issues related to access to justice, fair hearing, and natural justice.

Gadzama contends that the LPDC's findings were based on improperly evaluated evidence and lacked procedural fairness. The Federal High Court's grant of leave enables Gadzama to continue practicing while seeking orders regarding the legality of the LPDC's actions and the enforcement of disciplinary sanctions.
