Ganduje and Badaru Meet Tinubu Amid Defection Surge

On Tuesday, October 3, 2023, former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Ganduje, and former Minister of Defence, Badaru Abubakar, met with President Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja. This meeting comes in the wake of a significant increase in defections from the APC, particularly in Kano and Jigawa states, where notable figures like Dr.

Rabiu Kwankwaso have defected to the African Democratic Congress (ADC). Ganduje, who served as the APC National Chairman until July 2025, and Badaru, a former governor of Jigawa State, did not disclose the purpose of their visit to journalists.

However, Ganduje expressed confidence that Kano State would deliver votes for Tinubu in the upcoming 2027 elections, despite the recent defections. The meeting is part of ongoing consultations regarding party reorganization following the recent APC national convention.
