Ganduje Clarifies Stance on Sanusi's Emirship Dispute

Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, the former governor of Kano State, responded to reports regarding his endorsement of Muhammadu Sanusi II as Emir of Kano. Ganduje stated that the matter is currently under review by the Supreme Court of Nigeria, which will determine the fate of Sanusi's emirship dispute.

He highlighted that any reports suggesting his endorsement were misinterpreted and that the issue remains sub judice, cautioning against public commentary that could lead to contempt of court. Ganduje recalled that the Court of Appeal had previously directed the parties involved to maintain the status quo pending the final determination of the case.

He reiterated that the authority to endorse or reject claims to the emirship lies entirely within the judiciary, emphasizing the need for careful handling of the situation.
