Kano Governor Defends Absence at Emir Sanusi's Sallah Visit

Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf addressed claims that he snubbed Emir Muhammadu Sanusi II during the Sallah visit, labeling the reports as false and misleading. The clarification came through a statement signed by his spokesperson, Sunusi Batur Dawakin Tofa, which explained that the governor's absence was due to a scheduling conflict with an annual strategic meeting of Nigerian governors.

The governor traditionally pays homage to the emir during the Sallah period, but this year, the Eid el-Fitr celebrations coincided with the meeting. The statement emphasized that the governor had delegated senior officials, including the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Isma'il Falgor, to receive the emir on his behalf.

Additionally, it reassured the public that there is no rift or misunderstanding between the state administration and the emirate council, maintaining a commitment to peace and unity in Kano State.
