Ogun Airport Prepares for First Hajj Flights to Saudi Arabia

Ogun State is set to commence international passenger services at Gateway International Airport, with plans to airlift Muslim pilgrims to Saudi Arabia for Hajj. Governor Dapo Abiodun is leading efforts to ensure the airport meets all regulatory and security requirements by engaging with key federal agencies, including the Nigeria Immigration Service, Nigeria Customs Service, and the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency.

The airport, located in Iperu Remo, has already been certified for domestic commercial flight operations and is preparing for its first international operations. The Ogun State Commissioner for Transport, Gbenga Dairo, confirmed that the airport has the necessary infrastructure to handle Hajj flights, with expectations to process around 500 pilgrims.

The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria has inspected and approved the airport for pilgrimage operations, while the Ogun State Muslim Welfare Board is coordinating the airlift arrangements.
