Ogun State to Launch 2026 Hajj Operations at Airport

Ogun State is set to begin Hajj operations from Gateway International Airport in 2026, marking a significant step in enhancing the state's aviation infrastructure and economic activity. Governor Dapo Abiodun is actively engaging with federal agencies responsible for launching international operations, including Hajj flights and cargo services.

The discussions focus on ensuring that the airport meets regulatory operational requirements ahead of its planned international debut. Key areas of consideration include security architecture and the deployment of specialized personnel for passenger processing systems, ensuring full regulatory compliance supervised by the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority.

Governor Abiodun has mandated Dapo Olumid to consult on aviation matters and manage Gateway International Airport. Olumid has already met with leadership teams from the Nigeria Immigration Service, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, and the Nigeria Customs Service, whose delegation was led by Assistant Comptroller General B.
