Gbenga Daniel Loyalists Reject Abiodun's Senate Endorsement

On Thursday, loyalists of former Ogun State Governor Gbenga Daniel publicly rejected the purported endorsement of Governor Dapo Abiodun as the consensus candidate for the Ogun East Senate seat in the 2027 elections. The group, led by Aso Oludero and Olumuyiwa Okunowo, criticized the All Progressives Congress (APC) for allegedly organizing a meeting that favored a predetermined outcome without adhering to party guidelines.

They condemned the pressure exerted on party members and expressed concerns over increased security presence around Daniel's residence. The loyalists emphasized their constitutional right to hold their own meetings and accused the APC of not following due process in the endorsement.

Femi Nuberu, the APC state secretary, dismissed the allegations, asserting that the meeting was valid and properly constituted. The situation highlights internal conflicts within the APC regarding candidate selection for the upcoming elections.
