Great Britain Wins Gold at European Rowing Championships

At the European Rowing Championships held in Italy, Great Britain achieved notable success with Lauren Henry and Benjamin Pritchard winning gold medals in their respective events. Lauren Henry, who previously won Olympic gold in the women’s quadruple sculls at the 2024 Paris Games, delivered an impressive performance in the women’s single sculls, taking the lead in the second half of the race to secure a controlled victory and defend her title.

Benjamin Pritchard also defended his European title, triumphing over Italian competitor Giacomo Perini in the PR1 men’s single sculls final. Meanwhile, the British women’s eight team, consisting of Annie Campbell-Orde, Lauren Irwin, Katherine George, Heidi Long, Megan Slabbert, Amelia Standing, Eve Stewart, Elizabeth Witt, and cox Jack Tottem, finished with a silver medal, trailing 5.43 seconds behind the dominant Romanian team.

These victories contributed to Great Britain's three gold medals won on Saturday. The championships precede the 2026 World Championships scheduled for August 24-30 in the Netherlands, while the men’s team is currently at an altitude camp in Silvretta.
