GBV: Group Wants Police, NAPTIP To Accelerate Justice For 14-Year-Old Victim

The Sokoto State Chapter Gender-Based Protection Response Team is urging the police and NAPTIP to expedite justice for a 14-year-old victim, Bashariya Usman, who was allegedly trafficked and maltreated by Fausiyya Rabo Dogon Daji. The group expressed concern over the prolonged silence from relevant authorities, fearing that it may compromise the case.

A disturbing video of Usman being brutalized emerged on social media, sparking outrage. The Chairman of the group, Malam Rabiu Gandi, appealed to the Nigeria Police and NAPTIP to avoid any delays in the case.

It was revealed that Usman's parents had fled a banditry attack in Zamfara, and Fausiyya promised to give her a better life as a maid in Abuja. However, Usman was starved, abused, and subjected to excessive household chores.

Various stakeholders, including the NBA, NACTAL, and media representatives, are working towards ensuring.
