Gen Rabe's Widow Freed After Abduction in Katsina

Gen Rabe's widow regained her freedom after being abducted on May 30, 2026, during a vehicle ambush along the Marabar Musawa-Kafinsoli road in Matazu Local Government Area, Katsina State. A week later, a video was circulated on social media showing her captors demanding the release of three identified individuals: Sani, Aminu, and Nasiru.

Following her husband's death, the kidnappers initially refused to release her. However, on Monday, troops reportedly engaged the bandits in a gun battle, leading to her release.

Kachalla Muhammad, the bandit kingpin, had previously expressed anger over the arrests of individuals linked to his group and warned that such actions could complicate negotiations for her release. Despite a heavy security presence in the area, Kachalla indicated a willingness to release her but later declined due to the arrests.

Security personnel were deployed to the area to ensure her safety.
