Bruno Genesio Named New Coach of Olympique de Marseille

Bruno Genesio has been appointed as the new head coach of Olympique de Marseille, replacing Habib Beye, who left his position on Tuesday following the club's failure to secure Champions League football. Beye's departure came four months after Marseille faced sanctions from UEFA for not meeting the financial break-even target.

Genesio, 59, previously managed Lille until the end of last season and has a wealth of experience in domestic and European competitions. He is recognized as a highly regarded French coach, having won the UEFA Champions League in 1993 and having had successful spells at Lyon and Rennes, as well as a stint at Beijing Guoan in China.

Marseille finished fifth in the previous season and will begin their new Ligue 1 campaign against Strasbourg on August 21-23.
