Germany Sets Five Visa Requirements for Foreign Workers

Germany has announced five requirements that foreign professionally experienced workers must meet to obtain a visa for qualified employment. This visa process is governed by Section 19c (2) of the German Residence Act and Section 6 of the Ordinance on the Employment of Foreigners.

Applicants must first obtain a positive evaluation of their qualifications from the Central Office for Foreign (ZAB), which can confirm state recognition of academic degrees or verify qualifications through the anabin database. Additionally, applicants must demonstrate at least two years of relevant professional experience gained within the last five years.

A concrete job offer in a non-regulated profession is required, evidenced by an employment contract with a German employer. The minimum gross annual salary for the prospective role must be at least €45,630, with a higher threshold of €55,770 for workers over 45, who must also show adequate pension provision.

Finally, employment must receive approval from the Federal Employment Agency (BA), which assesses the working conditions.
