The first step involves determining the appropriate language for applications, as most must be submitted in German, although some companies may accept English.

Candidates are advised to confirm language preferences with potential employers. A standard application package in Germany typically includes three core elements: a cover letter, a CV in tabular format, and references.

The cover letter should articulate the applicant's interest in the role and the company, highlight relevant skills, and explain why they are a suitable candidate. Presentation is crucial, as application documents serve as a professional "business card." Notably, including a headshot on a CV is common practice in Germany, although not mandatory.
