NAPTIP Coordinates Rescue of 119 Nigerians from Cybercrime

Ghanaian authorities conducted an operation that rescued 119 Nigerians from cybercrime syndicates, with 105 individuals repatriated to Nigeria. The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) announced this on Monday, stating that the remaining 14 Nigerians are still undergoing processing by Ghanaian authorities.
The operation was coordinated by the Office of the National Security Adviser in response to a request from Ghana’s Cyber Security Authority. NAPTIP led the Nigerian security and law enforcement agencies involved, including the Nigeria Immigration Service, the Department of State Services, the National Intelligence Agency, and the National Commission for Refugees, Migrants and Internally Displaced Persons.
Binta Lami Adamu Bello, NAPTIP Director-General, welcomed the returnees and assured them of their safety while initiating profiling and reintegration processes. NAPTIP commended the collaboration of various agencies, including the Ghanaian authorities and the UK’s National Crime Agency, emphasizing its commitment to combating human trafficking and ensuring the welfare of returnees.
