Team Nigeria Sets Mixed 4x400m Record at Glasgow 2026

On Day 8 of the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games, Team Nigeria made history by setting the inaugural Mixed 4x400m Relay record with a time of 3:14.58. The Nigerian team, consisting of Edidiong Udo, Esther Joseph, Samuel Ogazi, and Patience Okon-George, won their heat, finishing ahead of Australia, which clocked 3:15.21.

This victory established them as the first Commonwealth Games record holders in this event. Additionally, Ruth Usoro qualified for the women's Long Jump final with a season's best of 6.77m, surpassing the automatic qualifying standard of 6.70m.

Jami Schlueter is currently in fourth place in the men's decathlon with 5,099 points after six events. The evening session will see Team Nigeria competing in multiple finals, including Ezekiel Nathaniel in the men's 400m hurdles, Chinecherem Nnamdi in the men's javelin, and Udodi Onwuzurike in the men's 200m final, as they aim to increase their medal tally.
