Globacom Gains 1.3 Million Internet Subscribers in May

In May 2023, Globacom added about 1.3 million internet subscribers, raising its total from approximately 15.5 million in April to 16.8 million, according to the Nigerian Communications Commission. This growth represented nearly half of the 2.67 million net additions recorded across the Nigerian telecom industry during that month.

Airtel followed with around 1.07 million new subscribers, while MTN added 382,894. By the end of May, Nigeria's total internet subscribers reached about 157 million, up from 154.3 million in April.

Globacom's performance was notable as it surpassed MTN's monthly subscriber gain by more than three times, despite MTN's larger subscriber base. The company attributed its growth to ongoing investments in network modernization and infrastructure expansion, emphasizing its commitment to enhancing data services and digital connectivity.

Globacom announced these figures during its 23rd anniversary celebration in Lagos, where it also launched new products and its "Never Settle for Less" corporate advocacy campaign.
