Gloria Samuel Shines at NNPC-SNEPCO Junior Tennis Championship

The 2026 NNPC-SNEPCO Junior Tennis Championship is currently underway, with players competing for semifinal spots. Gloria Samuel from the Ekiti-based LEKMAK Tennis Academy is a leading contender in the Girls 16s event.

In her second round-robin match, she faced Emmanuella Ogualu, a Nigerian-born aspiring tennis pro based in the Netherlands, and secured a victory with a score of 9-4 after a tied score of 4-4. Both Samuel and Ogualu are expected to advance to the semifinals, where they will compete against Bisola Ogunkolade and Success Godwin from another group.

In the Boys 16s category, Heman Afaramai showcased his skills with a 9-1 win over Favour Ekong. Joel Michael, Yahaya Isa, and Dami Agunbiade are also anticipated to reach the semifinals, which are set for Friday.

The championship, organized by the International Tennis Academy, is taking place at the recently refurbished Mainland Tennis Club at the National Stadium Surulere in Lagos, with the grand finale scheduled for Saturday at 12 noon.
